No, I'm just trying to say, aside from the fallacy of generalising from the particular to the group, there's another difference. If you call the people in Ferguson "rioting thugs" it's an accurate statement (even though it's not rational to generalise that therefore all black people are like that).
But if someone calls Kim Davis an "intolerant homophobe" it's not the same. It's not a plain statement of truth. There isn't enough information to know her motivation. It's possible that she hates gays, and that's why she's not issuing the licenses (though I doubt it). She has released statements saying she doesn't. But it's not a necessary conclusion based on her actions, because someone who refuses marriage licenses to gay people may have good and reasonable grounds to do so, so you can't know whether she is or not.
In other words, I'm saying not only is it wrong to label a whole group "intolerant homophobe" because of one person's actions, but also that that label isn't really appropriate for Kim Davis herself (as the label "rioting thug" is appropriate for the criminals in Ferguson).
