Nice try. I went to a Church of England school as a child, went to church and Sunday school, grew up in a christian community and, yes, have read the Bible.

The point of my meme wasn't to attack its believers, but to highlight the point that the Bible is, whether you like it or not, filled with lots of arbitrary nonsense that modern western Christians (rightly) ignore, and which clearly demonstrates that (contrary to the beliefs of many Christians, including some with whom I grew up) we develop morality within our society as an ongoing process and did not have it "revealed" to us.

On this particular subject, if you are going to "say that the behaviour practiced by a certain group of people is wrong", you'd better have something a bit more convincing in your corner than a book of fables, written by people who knew less about the universe than the average modern-day 5 year-old.

Wrong... ! You intentionally attacked the believers by using selective biblical passages. If you read the bible as claimed, with real comprehension of the wisdom of that generation, you wouldn't be disparaging the people of that time. Technology has allowed for greater understanding and advancement of the sciences.. but the people of that time had no less of an IQ than you (or I). In many respects, they were smarter as they Had to constantly be creative to survive. WTF does "4 corners of your beard" have to do with bestiality, adultery, incest or cursing parents, which is also in Leviticus. Tetsuya Rath is right.. you "cherry picked" to attack people who do not agree with the LGBT lifestyle. Why is your opinion, more valid than theirs?? And secondly.. why attack them?

Really? We're smarter now? With the internet and vast arrays of porn and video games and other distractions, we're smarter now?

"The point of my meme wasn't to attack its believers" "OH! YOU'RE GOING TO BASE YOUR HATRED OF A WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE ON LEVITICUS? (20:13) WHERE ARE THE CORNERS OF YOUR BEARD, DUMBASS? (19:27) "

Yeah dude, you're totally not attacking anyone with that meme. *rolls eyes

Then you have to add to that hypocrisy by claiming the people back then were less intelligent than we are now. What, because they don't know what H2O is? Or the speed of light? They didn't need to know that type of thing back then. Just because we've made things more complicated, doesn't mean we're smarter now.

When was the last time you took an IQ test? The questions aren't on physics or the functions of our universe or textbook terms. They're pattern matching and recognition. The people from back then would still be able to score high on IQ tests. They still have the same propensity to learn we have.

So what part of the Bible is a fable? Seriously, I'm curious what part/parts of the Bible you're referring to. I bet it's going to be the Flood followed by Yehoshua's miracles, then how intolerant the book seems to modern people.

You seem to have an inflated opinion of intelligence. Intelligence is simply making as many consecutive beneficiary choices as possible.I mean, you realize that math/science is older than the Bible right? Why aren't we teaching algebra in kindergarten?

I want to ask you something. What does our galaxy look like?

It doesn't work like that.

Firstly, Leviticus 20:13 is not the only verse used by Christians to say that homosexuality is wrong. It's more of a conclusion from the whole message of the Bible.

Secondly, to say that the behaviour practiced by a certain group of people is wrong in God's eyes is not to hate that group of people.

I have never seen that, but it does sound like something people would do.

They certainly do.

On the other hand, let's be honest - the so-called "hate" that the LGBT community keeps complaining about is mostly in their heads, and involves people not treating them with kid-gloves all the time, and expecting them to behave decently, like other people.
