you may be right that there is room for improvement with respect to my choice of words.

what i'm really trying to get at is the idea that the public domain is for universality, rather than things that are intrinsically private. i'm not trying to say that it should be forbidden to speak about your own privately held thoughts, perceptions, opinions, etc. i can see how the title of this meme could come off like that, so my bad for not thinking that through as you note.

it's more like, before you come to the table to discuss things with other people, especially people who you do not know at all and have never met before, make sure that what you're bringing is actually relevant to everyone, and that your assumptions are agreed upon.
