You need to read some history dude. They weren't innocent at all. And they were just as vicious as the "white man". :l

Not if you fight a war for it or pay them for it. So no, stop trying to spread that white guilt around. The Natives lost, so did the Mexicans, who also "stole" the natives land as well as the Canadians. People always attack America but always forget Canada and Mexico are the French and Spanish(Spain) versions of the US.

So no, not their land anymore. It's our(including them as they are Americans too) land Notice it;s always guilty white people who try and placate to the natives? The natives don't hate us, you white guilters do. :l

So let me get this right. Just to be clear. If you invade someone else's country and fight them for it, then you can keep it if you win. This isn't about white guilt, it's about history. Don't get me wrong pal, I'm English and we sent some of the first settlers over to your continent, so we're as culpable as the next colonist. The point is that your history, like ours (which you probably share as well as our language) consists of a constant repeating history of migration.

We didn't come over here and start spreading immediately. You should know that. The natives would have bad interactions with us and us with them and one thing leads to another. But they(native tribes) were all at war with each other in the first place. Sometimes we helped them fight. And eventually over time we obtained more and more of the continent.

And yes to me if you go to war with a nation and win, their land and resources are yours. That's war. And it will always be that way. It always has.

Migration isn't a bad thing. But American(US) is english. So that's what immigrants to this country should speak. The reason I point out the white guilt angle is how the US is always getting jabbed for the Natives and slaves. That was all three countries here and you know your country's history as well, with colonialism, no one country or people have been truly innocent or free of war/colonialism. To point it out for America like you did is not accurate. It's like it implies we stole the land, which we didn't. :l

Well obviously we disagree on the basic premise that if a country takes another by force, then as the aggressor we get to keep it. Raises a whole bunch of questions about the first and second world wars and whether we should have stood up to the aggressors who didn't directly threaten us.

I'm well aware of our colonialism, especially in India where my ancestors had some interests.

Well I'm saying that when it comes to the Americas, the Europeans didn't come right in and just take over immediately. We came and established settlements and made peace at first with certain tribes of Natives who were allies to a degree. Then as time went on other tribes would attack the settlements which escalated hostility. We would have to deal with the hostility to protect ourselves.

We didn't come to America to take it from them, but through both side's aggressions and our technological superiority, we came out on top. That's how the US grew. Slowly over a couple hundred years. I don't like that innocent people were killed, but there were more soldiers(both sides) killed then innocents. The media likes to make it about the "poor natives" and push "white/European guilt" so much that people believe that we just came here and killed them all and headed west like conquerors but that isn't what actually happened.

And one last point: this was all over a hundred years ago and anyone involved is now dead. We, the COMBINED(I'm a small fraction Cherokee from both my mother and my father) descendants aren't responsible and to suggest that our language is one of the native's is like saying the British people should be speaking Celtic. History repeated. Rome is to Britain as Europe is to America. :l
