The real question isn't. why is she refusing to sign gay marriage licenses. The real question is, why isn't everyone else doing that?

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like it if you were in a difficult and public position where you tried to do the right thing, and people attacked your character for it.

And I'm sure if I was gay, I wouldn't appreciate her breaking the law to refuse me the same right others are just given. The Statue of Liberty clearly states "Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" and unless I missed a class, there isn't an inscription on there that says that it's only for straight people.

If she doesn't agree with the duties of her job anymore, she should just quit. She is persecuting others, so others are persecuting her. She brought this onto herself. If you went to McDonald's and the cashier wouldn't sell you a burger because they didn't agree with killing cows, should they still have their job?

Gay marriage is a perversion of something good, not a fundamental right. If you think about the phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and what the constitutional framers intended it to mean, I think you'll find their intent was to protect the freedom of conscience and religion for people like Kim Davis, rather than to support the fictions of the gay-rights agenda.

Although I disagree with and find your argument rather misguided, your articulateness shows that you are intelligent, but I don't think anyone is smart enough to be able to say what a group of people that they (obviously) never even met from the 1700s were thinking even if it fits into your agenda and opinion. I don't know if you are against gayness because of your religious beliefs or something else, but everyone should have the right to be treated equal as long as they are not hurting someone else or infringing upon their rights.

While you and Kim Davis apparently see homosexuality as an abomination, in reality their rights to get married can not affect your life unless you allow it to. While my picture was a personal attempt at humor, to get serious for a minute, the point being is, she broke the law. Regardless of the possible mindset of our "Founding Fathers" the right for gays to become married nationwide has just been passed, so it's pretty safe to say what the majority of our elected officials/our citizens and the Supreme Court thinks about gay marriage. We are a democracy and because of that times change and so do laws. If she feels that she can no longer morally do her job because of the law, she should quit. I think that this concept is easy enough for an 8 year old to grasp.

We both have an agenda and opinion. It makes sense that you think yours is right and mine is wrong.

It's not just me that thinks you're wrong and I'm right, it's the majority of our elected officials/our citizens and the Supreme Court otherwise gay marriage would've never been legalized nationwide.

I can live with that.

Now we'll just have to see if Kim can live with it.

In all honesty I enjoy a friendly, yet passionate, debate where two individuals are intelligent and don't feel the need to be disrespectful to each other because of it. It was nice sharing my point of view with you and hearing yours as well. Good day to you sir.
