I wonder if they could be referring to different things?

The law in the second passage was only for the Hebrews, who had no need for astrology since they were given prophets and other means of direct communication. There's no contradiction there.

"Only for the Hebrews" - a favourite cop-out made by many Christians to try to explain away contradictory statements in the bible. That's alright though. I understand.

Seems to me that you would rather stick to the favoured cop-out of "it only applied to the Hebrews" instead of taking the bible as the literal word of your god. Your loss.

But I assure you I'm not losing anything by heeding 2,000 years of Biblical scholarship rather than a quote mining crank with (limited) knowledge but no understanding.

While you are heeding 2000 years of scholarship, I'm studying the bible. Reading critically and comparing it to objective reality. My memes are aimed at the literalists, not at the semi-rational people who accept that a lot of the bible is metaphor and poetry with a small amount of good moral guidance.
