I read it but it's quite confusing, is it basically saying that the bible said it but christians aren't meant to follow that part of the bible? If so then they're obviously not doing that, christians complaining about gay marriage being legalised, christians refusing to serve gays etc

There are plenty of other verses in the New Testament (The part that is for Christians). For example, "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." -Romans 1:27.
