Bullshit indeed

Everyone's complaining about it, and I'm just sitting here being Canadian...

Common core is a education program to get each us state on a similar curriculum. Living in Texas, it was rejected immediately so I can't tell ya much more. I never actually got to see much of it and I was lucky one of my teachers back in high school explained what it was.

Somebody who actually has common core in their state please explain more. He/she is in Canada while I'm in Texas so we both will never actually experience it.

Basically they teach very complicated methods to get simple answers to simple questions. Second graders are still learning addition in that curriculum.

Interesting. It actually looks like the common core makes ya think harder. Then again, it may be unnecessary and create problems for slower learners. I don't think its as bad as people think though. Yes it makes an easy problem harder. Then again it makes you think more which may be beneficial in the end.

I'm not sure. I guess if you looked at it that way. I'm just used to 2+2=4 instead of 1+1-1+2-1+2=4. Or whatever they use. (I've looked at problems but I haven't done them). Still, I was past addition in 2nd grade. I started to learn multiplication and division.
