But from your reply, it now seems like the original intent might have been to put forward the question, Why do believers ignore evidence (in general), and that the bottom quote was intended to put forward an answer to that question, from an evolutionary point of view.
I thought I was just answering your question (by pointing out that believers do indeed have an explanation for the evidence of the human brain not working very well - we don't ignore it).
