Believers don't ignore that evidence. The best explanation for this evidence is that sin damages the mind.

So only sinners believe that the Earth is more than 6000 years old? And that slavery is immoral? And that the Bible constantly contradicts itself? And that there are major similarities between Zoroastrianism (which nobody believes in anymore) and modern religions? OK.

It seems like I might have misunderstood what your meme was saying. I thought the intent was to ask, How do you make sense of believers ignoring THIS evidence, meaning the evidence presented in the bottom, namely the evidence that "the human brain makes a lot of mistakes" (as revealed in the quote).

But from your reply, it now seems like the original intent might have been to put forward the question, Why do believers ignore evidence (in general), and that the bottom quote was intended to put forward an answer to that question, from an evolutionary point of view.

I thought I was just answering your question (by pointing out that believers do indeed have an explanation for the evidence of the human brain not working very well - we don't ignore it).

But it seems I misunderstood that the question was rhetorical and didn't need answering.

But I feel like I should at least point out that your claim that the Bible "constantly contradicts itself" is a false claim. You have to search very hard, and be willing to take Scriptures out of their original contexts, in order to come up with apparent contradictions. I know people have done that - I know there are lists out there of alleged "Bible contradictions" that people can google, if they feel so inclined. But the answers to those charges of contradiction are also pretty easily available.

So, in my experience, people who make the claim that the Bible contradicts itself are showing that they haven't really checked out what the Bible is saying for itself before making that claim (although you might be an exception to that general rule).

The answers about the age of the earth, what the Bible says about slavery, and the perceived similarity about Christianity to other religions is also readily available for those who are interested.
