That didn't happen that way. For all purposes, the native american's were a nation we were warring with NOT US citizens. What it is horrible what the US did to native americans, this isn't the same.
I think it's fairly well documented that the U.S. military handled indian affairs pretty poorly I.e slaughtering them and changing the terms of their surrender once they were disarmed. However, you are correct to point out that we were at war with them as they were their own nations. Which is why it should really bother people that our government would try to take our guns as if we are some indian nation they are trying to pacify.
The incorrect assumption is our own government is an invading foreign nation. Its not. We are the government. If the government disarms us, we are disarming ourselves. You know, we have elections, prompt our officials to do our bidding.
Agreed. I live in a state where the functional illiteracy rate is around 46%. I'm constantly reminding my co workers that we can't just sit back and get angry at elected officials when they do things we don't like. I blame the blissfully ignorant people.
