no man who plays hockey is a wimp

contrary to what you might hear in the media, or on message boards, etc.

you have to be tough to play even at the junior level.

your level of fitness has to be amazing.

hockey players skate for a 45 second shift.. all out, as hard as possible, and they go back to the bench winded.

not every single shift is like that, there is some standing around, waiting to get the puck, but even one shift requires a lot of physical exertion.

not to mention if you just touched the puck, you are at risk of getting checked.

getting hit with a blocked shot is not always the most fun either.

standing in front of the net is a jostling, wrestling match, with sticks.

not to mention if somebody is crazy enough to get into a fight on the ice.
