Well, this is awkward

There is a space between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. Saint Peter spoke of "the world that once was". This could very well explain dinosaurs. Lucifer was God's #1 angel, so to speak. Look up "Lucifer's Kingdom". Lucifer was given charge over the earth until he rebelled. The world was flooded and all was destroyed. Therefore the void and without form in verse 2.

Where do you see this space?

Genesis:

1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This will explain it faster and better than I can.

Firstly, are you aware that many biblical scholars consider 2 Peter to be a forgery (in the sense that it was falsely attributed to Peter)?

Secondly, those verses say nothing about nor do they imply any space between Gen 1.1 and 1.2. Methinks it is wishful thinking on your part.
