Sorry how is this hypocritical?

By implying that people are inherently poorer and/or less able to achieve success based on the color of their skin...

Oh I'm not saying it isn't bad, I'm saying it's not technically hypocritical. Hypocritical is when you say something is bad, but you have done it in the past, are doing it, or are going to do it.

I have been on welfare and food stamps, but nobody ever helped me out.

that is what I have heard a couple of people say.. .about medicare, food stamps, etc..

People in the US seem to think that "socialism" equates communism.. whereas it is about health care, taking care of the sick, elderly, indigent, subsidizing public transportation, and university.

Actually socialism is the government having control of all factors of production. Communism is everybody gets the same things and there is no currency. HOWEVER, most socialism uses the factors of production owned by the government to distribute them to those who need it.
