You're going to pay taxes no matter what, so better to help the needy than to finance another unnecessary war.

I'd like to pay less taxes and choose to give to the poor. By giving people constant support you take away their motivation to try and better theirselves. There are times when someone really needs help. I'm fine with my taxes going to help those people. The problem is rampant fraud that no one will do anything about. That's why I'd rather voluntarily help those who need it rather than the government try to dictate where the money goes because most of it is fraud and waste.

What I want my taxes to go for is the fixing of roads, infrastructure, and building up our military. When I say build up the military, I don't mean going to war. What I mean by that is have a strong defense force encase someone attacks us; for example if Russian fighters decide to bomb our mainland. We shouldn't fight other peoples battles.

I agree wholeheartedly with rebuilding our infrastructure and not fighting other people's wars, but we don't need to allocate any more funding to the military. Nearly half of every dollar we pay in taxes already goes to the military, while only a few cents goes to all social programs, including welfare. Are you sure you're mad at the right people?

Incidentally, the actual rate of welfare fraud (as opposed to the Fox News figures) is less than 5%, and the majority of those receiving assistance also work, but don't make enough to get by without help. If you don't want your taxes going to help these people against your will, we need to start paying them a living wage.

I used to work for the SNAP program in my state. There is rampant fraud. The sad part is the people that come in that really need assistance can't get it because they were honest and don't qualify. Then you have people coming in claiming they have 10 people living in their house and no income coming in. They didn't even have to show proof. Also, fraud is not a black white issue as a lot of people think it is. Just as many white people as black people were coming in trying to game the system. I really felt for the people who get shafted by the system for those who abuse it.

Raising minimum wage would only hurt everyone in the long run. Companies won't take the hit. They'll either raise their prices which will make the minimum wage increase pointless, layoff employees, and/or hire less employees. Either way it doesn't help. I've though a lot about this problem and the best way to solve it. The only answer I can come up with is to stop inflation and maybe have a little deflation but economist insist that's a bad thing and for the life of me I can't understand why.

By the way, don't assume everyone listens to Fox News or is a Republican.
