I actually wrote a song before for a book I'm writing. It's a ballad, it has a cheerfully feeling, a lute, a guitar, a fiddle, and a recorder are used (I haven't played the song with them yet), 112 BPM, and a male singer. Here are the lyrics:
Oh, I am a pauper, my girl she’s a lady,
Hair as soft as silk and a smile warm as brandy,
Her father, he’s an Earl, her mother, she’s got money,
I’ve got nothing for her, except this melody!
So I will sing my merry tune,
My pockets may be bare,
I’m happier than any man,
Gold can’t buy the love we share!
Her dad he doesn't like me, won’t call me a son,
So now I’ve got me and my lady on the run.
Tomorrow we’ll be married, the Earl isn’t done,
He knows his daughter’s missing, but we are too far gone!
So I still sing my merry tune,
My pockets are still bare,
I’m happier than any man,
Gold can’t buy the love we share!
Her dad can keep his power and gold,
His castles by the sea,
But I’ve got something worth much more,
She’s singing here with me!
So we will sing our merry tune,
Our pockets may be bare,
We’re happier than we’ve ever been,
And gold can’t buy the love we share!
