Personally, when I make unfunny memes, they don't get more than a few upvotes. But if you're trying to grow as a creator, here's some tips to maybe help you.
1. Memeplug (this is a really good way to have other people see your memes, even if they're a smaller user. When you post, there's a little text on the screen that literally says "Sharing your image will make it more likely to reach page 1")
2. Gifs are easier to make popular memes with (gifs get way more attention, which is why I switched over to strictly gifs in the fun stream, with the odd image here and there)
3. Don't post about overly niche topics (not everyone is gonna understand what you mean. I had to send a meme to Flick7 yesterday to ask if people would understand, in which I ended up not posting is after he didn't get it until I told him; if you really want too, don't post it in the fun stream)
4. Be nice to people (i know this one sounds rough coming from ME, but you don't want to be rude to people. Now, I've definitely had a few crashouts in my time, but eventually I apologized and moved on)
5. Don't upvote beg (sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. But for the most part, is doesn't work.)
6. Don't post Flick7 slop (posting a meme where you mention him is completely fine, as long as its original/funny. But if its something like "imgflip users upvoting every single thing flick7 posts", then its slop and you'll probably get bullied in your comment section)
7. Get inspiration online (this ones pretty self explanatory. Use YouTube, TikTok, Reels, or whatever you may use to get ideas)
8. Post in multiple streams (don't just post in the fun stream, because you only get 2 posts per day. There's hundreds of thousands of streams you can use besides the fun stream)
9. Post in the fun stream daily/as much as you can (pretty self explanatory)
