But, oh, the heart
This stupid, cruel, heart of mine
It does not agree
It is fond of the blades that turn inwards and outwards
It sings songs of misfortune, its sharp tongue cutting itself and those who draw close enough
It believes that it was flawed from the mere concept of its existence
It believes the circumstances could somehow be its own fault
And I can't blame it for that belief, as it was born of suffering beyond comprehension, and that pattern remained unbroken ever since, with only days at a time of feeling free, only to be silenced and brought back down for it feared it would not stay
And it never has been proven incorrect so it holds on to the conceptual certainty of everlasting pain
As if it enjoys it
It cries in terror for every moment it faces the unfamiliar
It drops on its knees for closeness but screams to itself and the world that it does not deserve it
It shows the love for others it cannot bare to face
The love of humanity itself, despite its cruelty, because it knows that cruelty is never personal
