Onyx and Red rejected their old lives.

Red herself left in search of a life where she wasn’t defined by what others thought of her.

Onyx left because they decided they were their own leader, and no one else commanded them but themselves.

So they are still technically devils/imps, but they chose the higher order over Laspus and his empty promises of power
