Someone who ‘plugs away’. They keep going no matter what’s put in front of them. It’s basically someone who’s old-fashioned and doesn’t get along that well with the modern world and likes things from the past.

first pluggers are whoever keep going no matter what's in their way, then pluggers are people who are old-fashioned and don't get along with modern stuff??
I just meant that they like doing things the old way that they’ve been used to for their whole lives, but they’ll adapt to newer ways if they have to. I guess it’s that they just keep plugging away no matter what’s going on.
I guess the main part of the jokes are that these are all animals acting like humans and wearing clothes and walking upright like humans. It wouldn’t be as funny if they were just humans doing all of this stuff.
