My hypothetical dream Sonic.EXE asymmetrical horror game:

SONIC AND THE DEVIL'S INFERNO

THE LORE

After a great cataclysmic event called "The Inferno" caused by an entity who called itself "The Greatest Devil", Sonic the Hedgehog gave up his life in a ferocious battle with it to prevent the world from falling apart entirely, now the equilibrium of the universe itself is stuck in a semi-fractured state, with a constant loop of the time-space continuum trying to restart itself and falling apart again. With the chaos of the Inferno, and the empty body of a legendary hero, a variety of beings attempted to take advantage of the opportunity, with one of them succeeding...

CHARACTER SELECT

SONIC

One of the killers of the game take Sonic's place by possessing his body and are all referred to as "Sonic" in/by the game.

The killers only get one character choice, that being Sonic, with any other character being locked, but to actually choose the killer you choose one of the "Parasites" that inhabit the body of Sonic, with each one being different killers with different movesets.

THE RAVAGED LANDS

THE HILL
A dead and decayed Green Hill, filled with the shredded remains of badniks and animals alike, in the middle of a great storm.

Hazard: Rushing streams
Causes survivors who fall in to be rapidly pushed down the stream, unable to jump or move until the stream cuts off.

THE HELLSCAPE
Angel Island, caught in a great wildfire, with the entire island set ablaze from the aftermath of the Inferno.

Hazard: Flames
Certain areas are lit on fire, rapidly damaging those inside it, and dealing additional chip damage afterwards.

THE HAZE
A rusted Scrap Brain Zone, filled with a thick red mist due to a massive leak of hallucinogenic gas that drives inhalants of it insane.

Hazard: Gas
Remaining in certain underground parts of the map will cause survivors to go crazy, with numbers becoming jumbled and other survivors appearing as the killer to you.

THE RUINS
Marble Zone, its fragile ancient structures now half demolished and reformed due to the chaos caused during the Inferno.

Hazard: Molten Lava
Certain areas around the map have the floor covered in lava, which deals massive damage to survivors who fall into it and flings them.

THE FUTURE
The bad future of Stardust Speedway, now even worse with the once-great mechanizations of the area being broken down and torn apart.

Hazard: Faulty Machines
The badniks in the area have fallen into disrepair, with their facial recognition systems in a state of dysfunction, causing them to attack anything.

GAMEPLAY MECHANICS

Acceleration
"Sonic" and survivors share the same average starting runspeed, however as they continue running they grow faster, with each survivor and killer having different maximum runspeeds.

Hazards
As shown, each map has its own set of hazards, all of them are different depending on the map, but killers are resistant to them, with "Sonic" (and Metal Sonic) being able to run through them, only taking small chip damage.

Rings
HP is measured through rings, with each survivor starting with 100. "Sonic" starts with 250, but some killers have damage resistance which effectively makes that amount higher. Groups of rings and ring monitors spawn naturally around the map, with individual rings giving 1 ring (duh) and ring monitors giving 15 rings.

Extra Lives
Around the map are 3 randomly spawned and well-hidden extra life monitors with a random survivors face on them. These monitors can be broken by a survivor to revive them after death, or by "Sonic" to bring back the fallen friend... but not the same as they were. The Fallen, as they are called, act as minions that can be annoyances for survivors and provide in-chase support to the killer. They are slower and can be somewhat easily killed, but retain a few abilities that can make them a threat.

Invincibility Frames
After a survivor is hit, they are knocked back a considerable distance and their current velocity is stopped, afterwards the survivor flickers translucent for 4 seconds and is invincible to all damage, before becoming vulnerable again after this period.

Minute of the Inferno
The universe's faulty attempt to restart itself begins to fall apart once again after a few minutes, and the sky begins to tear as hazards worsen and a single gateway in the form of a portal ring opens. Survivors must run to the ring and escape within a minute, allowing them to avoid a worse-than-death fate in the Inferno's eternal fires.

EXTRA INFO

This game concept is highly inspired by TD and somewhat by v0.1 of Outcome Memories, as well as the general 2013-2018 era of Sonic.EXE content. I grew up with those games, and want this concept to replicate the feeling those older games had that newer ones are missing, usually due to a lack of feeling like a Sonic game, and/or an oversaturated roster.

This game would NOT have emotes or skins. While funny and somewhat cool, I often feel like these things really kill the immersion of these kind of games. I believe that was one of TD's biggest strengths as a sonic asym; it felt like you were really playing a twisted version Sonic game. Sure, it's funny when Knuckles hits the whip and nae nae after pounding Exeller into the dirt, but it completely kills the tension and intensity. However, like TD, there is an exception for all killers in which they come with the ability to laugh at survivors at any given time, as this is fitting and actually enhances the immersion to a degree.

VC would not be active in this game for the same reasons as emotes, and chat logs would only be viewable when not actively playing on a round. Chat bubbles still appear above survivors and killers heads, but some characters come with their own fonts and speech sound effects, certain characters even have filters on their speech to make the things said somewhat more in-character.

The game is small on purpose, as the roster of characters and maps are meant to reflect the simplicity of older Sonic.EXE games.
