The myth always says it was a peaceful protest. The day before, peaceful protesters burned the Kent State ROTC classroom building to the ground and rioted in the downtown area. Did the 4 killed participate in the previous night's destruction? A couple did not, but they were too close to the next round. The National Guard were outnumbered and on their own without backup when the crowd started trying to corner them throwing rocks. I was there.
