-Chapter 1-
A young kit jumped from her moss bed and ran outside, eager to get some nice morning breeze, and went to find her best friend, Sunnykit. “Oh, hey, Hollowkit!” Sunnykit stood up and trotted over to her.
“Hi, Sunnykit,” Hollowkit’s eyes beamed with excitement. “Today we’re gonna be made apprentices!” Sunnykit’s face was blank until he realized.
“Wait, really? I want Nightfur to be my mentor!” Sunnykit mewed.
“I want Birchtail to be mine!” Hollowkit gave a happy purr.
Lionblaze, a senior warrior, stalked up to the two kits.
“I don’t understand how you guys have so much energy,” He looked to the cats who were sleepily emerging from the warrior’s den. “Just look at them. And me.” He yawned and trotted away. Hollowkit was sharing her mouse with Sunnykit, and after a few swift bites, they were finished.
“All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather below the Highrock!” Sixstar, ThunderClan’s glorious new leader, yowled. His call caught the attention of everyone, and they herded up and sat below the Highrock.
“What's going on? We were asleep…” Some cat muttered to herself.
“Sixstar has an announcement.” Another cat responded to her.
“Oh.” The she-cat replied.
Every cat had gathered beneath Highrock, and Sixstar was at the top of it.
“Two of our kits have reached the age of six moons, so they will now be apprenticed.” Sixstar nodded to Sunnykit and Hollowkit. Sixstar jumps down from the top of Highrock, and the two kits approach, Hollowkit feeling nervous but excited.
“Hollowkit, are you ready to be apprenticed?” Sixstar asked.
“..Yes, Sixstar.. I am.” Hollowkit replied.
“Then, from now on, you will be known as Hollowpaw. Your mentor will be Nightfur. Nightfur, come forth.” Nightfur trotted up and licked Hollowpaw behind the ear, greeting the newly made apprentice.
“Now, Sunnykit. Are you prepared to become a warrior apprentice?” Sixstar says calmly. Too calmly.

“Yes, Sixstar!” Sunnykit exclaimed. But then he shrank a little, hot with embarrassment.
“Then you will now be known as Sunnypaw. Birchtail, come forth. You will be Sunnypaw’s mentor.”
Birchtail stalked up, with a tired look in his eyes.
He touches noses with Sunnypaw and nods. He didn’t seem too enthusiastic.
Why doesn’t he seem happy to be a mentor? Hollowpaw was confused. Nonetheless, she had her mentor to focus on, Nightfur.
Over the next couple of days, Hollowkit is stuck between thinking about why Birchtail seemed upset, or even sand, and focusing on her training.
“Hollowpaw!” Nightfur yowled, jumping out of a bush. “Where have you been? I was worried sick!”
Hollowpaw shrank a little. “Sorry, Nightfur.. I won't disappear again.”
“Thank StarClan!” Nightfur sighed.
Later that day, around sunhigh, Hollowpaw decides to confront- no, speak with Birchtail. She spots him near the elder’s den, chatting with them.
I need to get him away from there somehow, Hollowpaw thought. I have to. Hollowpaw trods up to the elder’s den with an intent but calm expression. “Birchtail, can I have a word with you?”
Birchtail looks around before turning to face her.
“Yes?” He says.
“Follow me. We’ll walk and talk.” The two cats stalk off somewhere in the secluded camp.
“So, Birchtail. Why don’t you seem.. Enthusiastic about becoming a mentor? Sunnykit tells me you’re cold with him. He thinks you’re mad at him.”
Birchtail sighs. “Well, look, the only reason I'm like that with him is because I just.. I’m not social with many others. And being forced to be a mentor is hard. I have to train my apprentice, and also do patrols, and sometimes apprentice work, since you two are the only apprentices besides Acornpaw.”
Hollowpaw did not expect that dump of emotional stress.
“Oh. I see. How can I.. Help?” Hollowpaw said, wholeheartedly.
Birchtail sighs, and even in that one sigh any cat could tell that it is full of emotion. Sadness. Uncertainty. Maybe frustration? “It’s something for me to deal with, Hollowpaw. You’re a great cat. But, sometimes, you need to know not every

cat needs help. I’m sure Sunnypaw will understand why I'm like this soon enough.” And then he stalks out back into camp.
Hollowpaw was again, not expecting the pour of emotion from Birchtail, and she vowed to keep it secret unless told otherwise.

so basically sixstar will kill an important cat from each clan and one loner, presumably barley, and I kinda want him to after that, try to take reign of all clans, and almost near succession, starclan will help just as they did in omen of stars (I think it was OFS?)
