I mean, he keeps an axe they destroys the bridge he's fought on, I'm pretty sure not just once eithee. And then another old boss fight has him try to stomp Mario, and all Mario gotta do is move out of the way until Bowser breaks a hole big enough to fall through. Yeah, he definitely isn't smart.
