No, people used to put mini and regular size portals, but invisible, in their levels. So you wouldn't know when you change size, and when that happens when you're a ship, it's not very hard to control and is readable, but when you don't expect a size change as wave, and since mini wave is a lot different than regular wave in terms of how they move, it's hard to control and isn't very readable.
