its many. if the plates were moving 1000 times faster, then east africa would have split off from the mainland of africa. all the plates are always moving. its nit just one that moves. also, the indian plate would be colliding with the plate under the indian ocean, either subducting the other plate or forming new islands as the get scrunched against each other.
