A new immigration scam uncovered by the FBI
Foreigners are now staging fake crimes at their stores, they pay people to stage fake robberies
They then cooperate with police which qualifies them for a ‘U Visa’
Prosecutors say it’s going on in multiple states
“So the FBI has just busted another type of visa fraud scheme. So federal authorities have arrested 10 individuals and what prosecutors describe as a major immigration fraud scheme. The suspects all Indian nationals allegedly staged fake armed robberies at businesses, including convenience stores and restaurants like you're thinking. Why would they do that? I'll explain that in a second.
According to investigators, participants would threaten store clerks with what appeared to be take cash and then flee or run, but the clerks were part of the plan.
They delayed calling the police so the suspects could escape, creating police reports and surveillance footage showing them as victims of crimes. These reports were then used to apply for U Visas, a humanitarian immigration benefit intended for crime victims who cooperate with law enforcement.
Prosecutors say participants paid to join the scheme, which dates back to 2023 and involve the locations across multiple states”
