The real winner of this conflict may actually be Oman. • Oman maintains good relations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, while also preserving open channels with Iran. It cooperates with Iran on stability around the Strait of Hormuz rather than escalating tensions there. • It does not spend excessively on military expansion compared to larger regional powers. • Oman avoids overt alignment politics. Unlike Qatar, which often takes a highly visible geopolitical balancing role, Oman keeps a lower profile and avoids appearing overly aligned with either Iran or the United States. • It does not seek regional dominance in the way Saudi Arabia is often perceived to. • It does not pursue the high-visibility, hyper-modern projection model associated with the UAE — no race for skyscrapers or flashy global branding. • Oman has avoided building or backing proxy militias, unlike Iran, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE in various regional theatres. • It maintains security cooperation with the United States but without appearing to surrender strategic autonomy. • It does not face the same level of sectarian strain that has challenged Bahrain internally. • And unlike Kuwait, which was invaded by Iraq in 1990, Oman has not experienced a comparable modern external invasion.
