Lore — The River Sentinels
As Teutara’s cities grew, rivers became busy trade routes.
Ships collided, chains drifted, and accidents were frequent. Some Goldeen survived — their bones and horns gradually became iron-infused, giving them strength to survive collisions.
Over time, groups of Seaking began blocking hazards, chasing predators, and keeping harbors safe. The first recorded act of heroism was during a storm in Hamburghaven, where Seaking rammed a drifting cargo ship into a sandbank before it could destroy the canal district.
Since then, sailors leave open lanes for them, patrols slow down where they swim, and the Seaking crest is painted on docks.
“They don’t protect us. They protect the river — we just live in it.”
