New directives and an executive order in 2025 have moved toward restricting transgender service in the U.S. military and may effectively cancel or override earlier DoD policies like DoDI 1300.28. Executive Order 14183 — Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness —
Number: Executive Order 14183
Signed: January 27, 2025
This executive order directs the Department of Defense to revise policies so that only biological sex (male/female at birth) is recognized for military service standards and eligibility, and anyone with a history of gender dysphoria (including transgender identity) is generally excluded from service | image tagged in they re trans now | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Honestly i dont think the government should ever spend taxpayer money on something like hrt, but that's because i don't like misuse of taxes and i think we get taxed way too much, not because of transphobia

we have so many different types of tax, sales tax, income tax, whatever the f**k tax
it ends up actually being about 50% of your income if you factor in every single type of tax added up together and look at the average american

i was only talking about income tax
what is sales tax? is that like GST?

whenever you buy something you have to pay a sales tax as well
in my state, its 7%

so if you wanted to buy something that was $5 you would have to pay an additional 35 cents

oh yeah. like GST.

again, there are a LOT of unnecessary taxes and regulations that the us gov likes to put on us that are pretty specific. like you HAVE to pay $200 for a gun silencer and that regulation is because of 1920s gangsters which I'm pretty sure isn't relevant anymore

okay but why are our gun laws bad
we had a bad shooting and thus restricted it
now we get much less shootings
but i'd respect your opinion
sometimes we do suck

I…was not expecting my post to cause a bit of an argument or anything. This is interesting

In Venezuela, former president Maduro lost an election but remained in power anyway. Then he seized the guns of all non-citizens. They could no longer get rid of him as a dictator, but they forced to put up with him (until what happened last month although that's irrelevant) because they couldn't use guns.

The reason why the 2nd amendment in the United States (Right to bear arms) is important is because in case the us government becomes totalitarian, at least the people can bring matters into their own hands to fix it. That is why the founding fathers of the american constitution put that in our bill of rights. And that should be expanded to every country, in my opinion.

Also simply making owning guns illegal makes crime more lopsided. A criminal isn't going to care if using a gun is illegal because he's just going to use that gun to commit another crime anyway. While a victim has to break a law just to be able to protect themselves because otherwise they're highly vulnerable. The idea that we can live in a world without guns or crime and where everyone's perfect is wishful thinking

yes it is
i would say it again
this isnt an offence to you specifically
you didnt make your country a shithole
but everything i hear about your country makes it seem like it is a bad place to be
0 ups, 17h
I mean do i call australia a shithole just because your gun laws suck and I've never had a good interaction with someone from there?
Still no because that's rude
0 ups, <1h
i mean, there'll always be crime, but thats not what im saying.
we didnt ban guns, just made them hard to get, and even most of the ones you can get are for hunting. so yeah, our criminals very rarely go throught the hassle of getting a gun.
and about the regime. in america that might be more important right now considering the direction your country is going, but we are still a centre leaning country with little amounts of extremism.
so my point is that guns should just be hard to get and have a lot of bureaucracy behind it. and for chrissake, you dont need a f**king assault rifle. a handgun would do if you needed a gun. otherwise, we have metal baseball bats and knives for a reason.
