Presenting Hotel Mario 99! So you know how there’s Tetris 99 and f-zero 99 and things like that? Well imagine that, but for Hotel Mario. I think it would be a neat way to make its gameplay actually fun.
It has 3 main modes:
* Battle Royale: You progress through the game as normal (albeit without cutscenes), but whenever you defeat an enemy, it’s added to an opponent’s screen. Basically just Super Mario Bros. 35. The first person to beat the game or the last person standing wins.
* Endless: Instead of progressing through levels, you choose a level and stay there. The last person standing wins, but there’s also a 10 minute timer. So I guess it’s not technically endless, but most matches probably won’t hit the ten minute mark anyway.
* Story: A single-player mode. Basically just the original Hotel Mario gameplay, complete with cutscenes.
Other features:
* As you play matches, you’ll level up. You can get profile pictures, and even decorations for something I’ll be talking about next…
* A feature called My Hotel! Basically just a regular customizable hotel. Many of the decorations actually reference other Mario games, in a similar manner to the cake toppings in Kirby’s Dream Buffet.
* A movies feature, like in the Smash Bros games, basically allowing you to watch any cutscene you’ve unlocked.
This might just be one of those ideas that sound better in my head, but I thought it would’ve made Hotel Mario at least somewhat more enjoyable.
