Hey Imgflip team & everyone here — quick heads-up about the situation in Russia (as of early 2026) Just wanted to flag something important for Russian users and the platform overall. Back in late 2023, Russia's Supreme Court officially labeled the "international LGBT movement" as an extremist organization (case АКПИ23-983с), and this ruling is still very much in force. Because of this, any public display, sharing, or dedicated sections/streams related to LGBT themes/symbols/materials can fall under Russian laws against extremism/propaganda (including Admin Code Art. 20.3 and Criminal Code Art. 282.2 in serious cases). Imgflip is a global, open platform (lots of minors use it too), and it has that popular LGBT-themed stream/section. From what I understand of the current Russian regs, this puts the whole site at pretty serious risk of: Getting added to Roskomnadzor's blocked list Full domain/IP/app store blocking across Russia (like what's already happened to some other platforms in 2025) Russian users probably losing the ability to buy/renew Pro subscriptions Any ads or monetization aimed at RU users becoming legally dicey This isn't about politics from my side — it's just the reality of the law there right now. Maybe worth considering some adjustments (region-locking, removing/hiding the section for RU visitors, etc.) to keep things accessible for Russian meme creators who love the platform?
