AM is from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, and has been stated by Gooseworx to be Caine's inspiration.
I myself have read bits and pieces of the book, the hate monolog of course, thwt was my introduction, but other bits from throughout the book as well. I was introduced through an animation a guy made a while back and did my own research.
