Here‘s the whole German constitution translated to English. Some of the most important articles include Article 20 which includes the most important principles of democracy and separation of powers, Articles 1-19 which secure citizen rights, and Article 79 which makes it illegal to change Articles 1-20. In Germany, the chancellor also has very limited power, and most of the power is in the parliament, meaning it‘s impossible for one person to have too much power.
On top of that, while the US is a liberal democracy, Germany is a defensive democracy. This means that Germany has more democracy than the US by having less democracy than the US. This sounds weird, but is not too complicated: A citizen loses his rights if he intends to use those rights to attack the democracy, and a party can be banned if there is clear proof of the party wanting to remove democracy.
Also Article 20 paragraph 4 says that if democracy is threatened, all citizens have the right to defend it.
