CHAPTER SEVENTEEN — ESCAPE PLAN
The safe room felt still.
Too still.
Devesto was gone.
The mysterious being had vanished with him.
And for the moment, the bunker felt safe again—
—but nobody trusted that feeling.
Toady was the first to stand.
“We can’t stay here forever,” they said.
“Whatever’s running around out there, it might come back. Or something worse might show up.”
Norther nodded.
“If the creature disappeared so easily, it might return just as easily.”
Mewo raised a hand, voice tired.
“Can we, like… leave? And find somewhere that doesn’t have counting monsters or freaky walls or Devesto?”
Yoshi crossed his arms.
“Yeah. We need to move before this place becomes a tomb.”
Cornball looked toward the sealed door.
“Where do we go? Like… outside-outside?”
Curator shrugged.
“Anywhere is better than waiting to get jumped again.”
Randomiser, still shaky, whispered,
“I second the motion of not dying here.”
Toady nodded decisively.
“Pack what we can. The bunker exit is two floors up.
We leave in ten minutes.”
Shira squeezed Corpse.Bride’s hand and nodded.
The group scattered to gather supplies.
