I Remember Not Having These On Shopping Baskets

i remember briefly in the late 90s the Kroger in downtown rolled out (heh) shopping carts with automatic brakes on the wheels that were supposed to engage if you took it out of the parking lot.

they were terrible. the brakes would randomly trigger, and they had locked carts all over the lot.

the carts didn't last long.

In California, they have to lock up the tide pods from rabid lefties...
