The ocean in front of him shifts. Not with the sea monster—no.
This is older. Prehistoric. Smarter.
A black ooze, darker than darkness itself, begins to crawl up the beach, ignoring physics, forming tendrils like fingers.
People have tried cataloging it before. They’ve never succeeded.
📌 Historical Research Notes
June 16th, 2011 – First detectable manifestation near Blobie.
Attempted interview efforts (2012–2022) – 5 teams of 3 researchers each. All presumed dead.
*No physical trace left. No blood. No video. Just… gone.
May 13th, 2025 – The last containment attempt. A full science vessel sank within 14 seconds. No emergency transmissions.
Since then, international protocol states to avoid all contact.
The Awakener fully emerges.
A humanoid silhouette forms out of the black mass. Eyes nonexistent—but blobie feels them.
The slime within him ripples.
“They think tomorrow they fight the monster.”
“…But the real one… is already here.”
Blobie sinks to his knees.
His cheerful, goofy disposition gone. He whispers:
“Please… not yet.”
The Awakener’s voice vibrates the air—like a memory and a nightmare layered together.
“I did not choose the timing.”
“You did.”
The black figure leans in.
“When you came here.”
A shockwave pulses from blobie toward the ocean.
The sea monster—the main one—stirs violently.
The other islands feel it. Walls shake. Sector falls off his hammock. Virian jolts awake in fear. Zap sits upright, sweat beading.
No one understands why.
Blobie looks up. Eyes glowing with black cracks.
“...What do you want from me?”
The Awakener lifts blobie’s chin.
“To awaken.”
And then, it disappears.
Blobie collapses.
His final whispered words before unconsciousness:
“Don’t… let me wake up tomorrow.”
