1. Messy Storyline

A lot of viewers said the plot was confusing, incoherent, and hard to follow. Even director Michael Bay later admitted that the writers’ strike of 2007–2008 hurt the film’s development — the script was rushed, and it shows. Scenes jump around without much logic, and the movie leans more on explosions than narrative.

2. Too Many Characters

There were tons of new robots introduced, many of whom didn’t get names or clear personalities. It made it hard to keep track of who was who, and most didn’t have meaningful roles in the story.

3. Cringe Humor

The movie was heavily criticized for juvenile, crude, or racially stereotyped humor — especially the Autobot twins, Skids and Mudflap, who many found offensive or just obnoxious. The humor in general felt out of place in a serious sci-fi war setting.

4. Overuse of Action and CGI

People like Transformers for the action, but in Revenge of the Fallen, many felt it went too far — too much shaky camera work, too many explosions, and too much noise. Critics said it felt like a two-and-a-half-hour visual assault with little breathing room.

5. Underdeveloped Characters

Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela (Megan Fox) didn’t really grow as characters. Their emotional arcs felt thin, and the robots — who are the real stars — didn’t get much character development either, apart from Optimus and Bumblebee.

6. Too Long

At around 150 minutes, people found it bloated. Many said it could’ve been an hour shorter and told the same story.

Despite all that, some fans do still enjoy it for the spectacular visuals, Optimus’s forest battle scene (which is often praised), and pure popcorn fun.
