what if every single time of life is just a thinner and thinner slice. think of how much time must have passed before the first ever single-celled organism became an animal. and then those universal common ancestors died, and the fish were all of life. and then millions of years passed. and then the precambrian extinction happened. and then the cambrian period, etc etc until we get to humans. humans, currently, are causing a mass extinction event known as the Holocene extinction. one day, the humans will be wiped out, and a new creature will take their place. and then, even faster still, another will happen, and a new creature will take its place.
what if eventually, the entire planet will be nothing but a massive computer, constantly building up 'creatures' of data and all of them dying and the cycle continuing between milliseconds. and then between nanoseconds. and the technology will increase, and perception will slow again, and then in the time it takes for light to reach one end of a room to another, there will be thousands of extinctions. and then billions.
to what end?
