His 10 closest companions get rounded up and mutilated in front of his eyes until they are reduced to bloody bags of meat, then they are cut into strips and strung on the trees all around him. Furthermore, those same people capture him and put him through such inhumane treatment in prison that even Keyaru from Redo of Healer wouldn't think of. After his escape, he finds his childhood town reduced to ashes with the burnt corpses of his family still in the remains of his house.
Idk if this is a bit extreme but if you need brutal ideas or torture methods then let me know cause I think about stuff like that daily.
