So like I’m thinking in Chapter 4 after being nearly mauled to death by ink demon in chapter 2 he finds a mascot costume and wears that, then at some point Henry knocks the mascot head off his face, he runs away. Then in chapter 5 he comes back in the mascot suit, but his face is covered by a half-tattered bendy mask that he wore in chapter 2 (aka his normal appearance)
