Honestly, you have term limits on Presidents (its a massively stressful job and too much for one person to do for more than 8years) but no term limits on lawmakers, and no age limits on any politician???
That said, the Westminster system has no limits at all. I think in every Westminster Parliament there has always been people getting elected because their electorates or states vote for a party, and they’re totally past being at all effective so they just get wheeled out to say “aye” or “nay”. They just get too entitled and don’t even care.
No system is ever gonna be perfect. Perhaps those limits are an attempt to round off some rough edges?
