Crack Down’s platforming can actually be quite fun once you learn how to build up momentum.
It has some frustrating moments where your character will halt because of a slight bump in the ground and you need to jump over it, and now you’ve lost all momentum. This is especially true with jumping off buildings, and you need to jump before hitting that bump or else you’re not getting to the next rooftop.
The game also has a slight delay between pressing the A button and jumping. Because the game will make you jump higher if you hold the button down for longer, like Sonic. But Sonic doesn’t have this delay with jumping. If it did, it would suck. And it’s annoying in Crackdown, too. However, once you learn when to time jumps and maintain momentum, you can move quite fluidly.
