Have you both never even taken high school level psychology? The classification of "mental disorder" has nothing to do with any complex biological science which you would need to rely on studies or peer reviewed sources for. It's a subjective observation festive on whether a given mental trait is adaptive or maladaptive to the person, their life, and the society in which they live.
According to the DSM-5, a mental disorder must fit this criteria:
>A behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual
>Reflects an underlying psychobiological dysfunction
>The consequences of which are clinically significant distress (e.g., a painful symptom) or disability (i.e., impairment in one or more important areas of functioning)
>Must not be merely an expected response to common stressors and losses (ex. the loss of a loved one) or a culturally sanctioned response to a particular event (ex. trance states in religious rituals)
>Primarily a result of social deviance or conflicts with society

Homosexuality can be very reasonably classed as a mental disorder because it is:
>heavily linked with and caused by neuroticism (there is a bidirectional link between psychological distress and same-sex attraction, proven by a study:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36520248/#:~:text=Same%2Dsex%20attraction%20causally%20influenced,and%20no%20significant%20sex%20differences.)
This clearly indicates an underlying psychobiological dysfunction, and also means that significant distress is a direct result and cause of homosexuality.
>Humans are obviously evolved to reproduce, not die off as genetic dead ends uselessly f**king the same sex. Therefore, the trait is evolutionarily maladaptive and a deviance from standard functioning human social behaviour by definition. A healthily functioning human reproduces. This also heavily impacts quality of life, since fulfillment is directly linked with fulfilling nature's calls - hence why Reindeers are so neurotic.
>Even with the tolerance expounded by modern western society, people still feel revulsion towards homosexuals. It is a social deviance and causes conflict and rejection by society for the person, like other mental illnesses. We also preach tolerance for schizophrenics, BPD sufferers and others, but they are still classed as mental illnesses and don't fit into society as well as normal people.
It's pretty silly to call homosexuality anything other than a mental illness. It's one which I personally
