I don't doubt that the kid did it because he was a Mormon. John Moses Browning, one of the greatest gunmakers who ever lived, was a Mormon. I doubt that this kid did it because his eyes are so lazy that they make Garfield look like a crackhead by comparison. He couldn't have hit his target on purpose, let alone from that distance.

I don't actually know who did it for a fact, but sometimes people make more of things than they are. I mean have you heard the story of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.
