Yeah it’s still better in both, since it’s super effective against the first gym, resists the fairy one, and is strong against Chairman Rose. Plus it just has the best stat spread of the three:

Also if you have the DLC, get the Kubfu after the third gym since that’ll be around the time your team’s levels are around the Isle of Armor’s levels. It’s literally broken and could solo the game. If you have a Pokémon you’re willing to sacrifice, you could also just go to the crowned tundra with just that one pokemon, lose to Peony, and then get a free level 70 Suicune in Dynamax Adventures.
