I kept trying to tell this to my friend whose plant based and they kept saying "no they don't, or at least they don't feel pain like animals do" and i'm like yeah duh obviously they don't feel pain like animals but they still feel pain. like the smell of fresh cut grass?? that's grass sending out a distress signal. but they still wouldn't listen to me

Fun fact- tomato plants scream in ultrasonic clicks when distressed. They are too high-pitched for humans to hear.
