The way that benadryl gets you "high" is more similar to a neural poisoning than a trip; your brain produces a chemical called "acetylcholine" every time you think. it gives you focus, mental clarity, and the ability to process information. it also acts as a filter from what information you see is actually real and what are your subconscious thoughts. benadryl completely blocks acetylcholine from making it to the brain making you less aware of your surroundings, much less able to think clearly, and causing random subconscious information (like voices and people you're thinking about) to be visible.
