I watched it about five years after it came out. I think it's an interesting take. The "evil Superman" trope is done to death nowadays, but Megamind here approaches it in a completely different fashion. Hal is an obsessed creep, and every interaction with him before he's made into a "hero" is painfully uncomfortable. When he gets his powers, there's no moment where he learns the importance of responsibility or anything like that. He just goes and does whatever the hell he wants, because there aren't consequences. And he assumes now that his external self is made grander, that Roxanne would finally love him back, when in reality he's the same pervert he was before. He's really the perfect possible villain for a movie about a supervillain going straight.
