gentlemenly warfare was a myth and wasn't real, they didn't just take turns shooting at each other. It was more whoever shot first had the disadvantage. By the time you finish reloading, the enemy would have already been just feet away from you and hitting you in the chest. They would often dare each other to shoot first, whoever takes the bait takes the disadvantage. They deadass ragebaited each other.
