they made mushrooms classify as foods finally? i last played on the constant when mushrooms werent food

They're not classified as food, they still give the potion sickness debuff, but the bright side though is it saves you from starving to death for a few minutes.

So gathering a bunch of mushrooms will save you the risk of starving until you can get your hands on actual food items.
